Why Chinchillas Need Help

Wild chinchillas are one of the most endangered small mammals in the world. Long ago, millions lived in the Andes Mountains of South America. But over time, their numbers dropped dramatically.

The main reason was the fur trade. Chinchillas were hunted for their incredibly soft fur, which caused wild populations to crash. Today, even though hunting is mostly banned, chinchillas still face serious threats.

Their natural habitat in the Andes Mountains continues to shrink due to human activity, mining, and environmental changes. Because there are so few wild chinchillas left, scientists are working hard to study them and protect the remaining colonies.

By supporting conservation research and habitat protection, we can help make sure chinchillas continue to survive in the wild.

Why they need help:

• Wild chinchillas are endangered

• Their populations declined because of the fur trade

• Habitat loss continues to threaten them

• Conservation scientists are working to protect them

Scientists in the Andes Mountains are studying wild chinchillas and working to protect the places where they still live. Your support helps fund conservation research and habitat protection, so these amazing animals have a future.
